As we drove through the lively market place I reflected on how many times I had visited Barnard Castle but never thought of it as somewhere to retire. Yet it is perfect, combining town centre living with a rural feel, the beauty of the Durham Dales on the doorstep. As we pass under an old stone archway into the private car park I realised why Kings Court Care Home was in the ideal of location.The bustle of the market disappeared; I was transported into a world of calm and serenity. The building is steeped in history and the magnificent view of the castle a welcome surprise. I immediately received a warm welcome from the staff and residents, the closeness everyone shared as evident as the happiness they clearly found in this friendly Home. From that moment I felt like part of the family. I felt cared about. I felt I belonged.
