Assured a visit to Dickens House would be a Supreme experience, one look at the beautiful old property left me confident that I wouldn't be disappointed. The location is phenomenal and the opportunity to rent a unique Grade II listed home a privilege and dream come true. Barnard Castle has all the perfect ingredients for a town in which to retire. With the fantastic range of local amenities, open countryside and excellent bus routes to neighbouring towns, I realise that I truly would continue to be self-sufficient.I opened the huge door and looked into the extraordinary, airy entrance hall, reflecting what fantastic first impressions my friends would get. The character and grandeur of the building is evident throughout. I was handed the suite key and left to explore. It dawns on me, this would be my own key to my own front door. I would be free to come and go as I please, I would have independence. My life wouldn't have to change, it would just be made easier. Assisted living - it's life improving, it's right for me.
